The data services division of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) is responsible for the collective management of a variety of data related to geophysics, physical oceanography, chemical oceanography, and image processing that has been acquired by JAMSTEC vessels.
Marine technicians from Nippon Marine Enterprises have been posted to this division, where they are responsible for storing and managing new data from the research vessels Kairei, Yokosuka, Kaiyo, and Natsushima. Their responsibilities include quality management, preparing cruise reports for the general public, and the handling of data whose non-disclosure period has expired.
Our staff at JAMSTEC works mightily every day with numerical data on computer screens so that fresh on-site data is always available to researchers and the general public.
