Our marine technicians, together with researchers, board the research vessels Natsushima, Kaiyo, Yokosuka, and Kairei, as well as Tansei-maru and Hakuho-maru (all owned by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), to gather deep-sea data and samples and support observation work.
Although most survey activities are performed by research submersibles and unmanned exploration vehicles, including the Shinkai 6500, Kaiko 7000Ⅱ, and Hyper Dolphin, activities that use equipment brought by the researchers themselves (OBS and SCS systems) can also be accommodated.
Nippon Marine Enterprises believes that the company benefits from doing field work with many kinds of researchers, since it is able to learn from them how it can improve the on-board observation environment.
The company derives much pleasure from seeing researchers satisfied with our on-board work in handling and preserving their deep-sea data and samples. But our greatest pleasure in providing support for deep-sea surveys is the opportunity to witness new discoveries with our own eyes.
