Nippon Marine Enterprises has been commissioned to conduct reflection and refraction surveys, including exploration using both multichannel seismic (MCS) and single-channel seismic (SCS) reflection survey systems, seismic exploration based on refraction using ocean bottom seismographs (OBSs), and the observation of natural earthquakes. In addition, Nippon Marine Enterprises has been commissioned to maintain equipment and to process data. Our work includes representing the subduction structure of plates in the Japan Trench and the Nankai Trough in image form and performing surveys in the seas around Japan, including the Okinawa Trough, Sagami Bay, and the seas off Hokkaido. The results of our work are widely used as important data in clarifying and researching the mechanisms of volcanic activity and earthquakes. |

| Reflection exploration systems based on the MCS and SCS methods |
|

For insight into earthquake mechanisms, we use the MCS system to understand deep-sea structure.

| Ocean bottom seismograph (OBS) |
|

An OBS is installed on the seafloor to observe natural earthquakes and explore sea-bottom structures.
